B. Johnston Plumbing

B. Johnston Plumbing Ltd

“Call Us, You'll Be Relieved You Did!”

Brad Johnston is a plumber based in Port Coquitlam B.C.

He has been in the plumbing industry for over 25 years doing great and honest plumbing services for various companies.

A few years ago he decided it was time to stop working for other companies and get in to business for himself.

First his business was performing overflow work for a couple of his previous employers of whom he has built relationships with. This type of work left him with gaps in his schedule. It was enough to pay the bills but not much else. He knew the only way to grow on his own was to start gaining his own clients.

In this day and age, lets face it, just putting an ad in the local yellow pages was just not going to cut it if he wanted to build a sustainable business. He is an experienced plumber with vast knowledge on all things plumbing. But running a business takes much more then knowing your craft. You have to create customers and gain new business.

The New Path

So how do you get new customers on a daily basis?

Internet Marketing.

He started off with almost no knowledge of what to do or even where to start with online marketing efforts.

First off he made a Google My Business page to display his company online. (which was a great way to start)

Second he made a Facebook group where his friends and family could ask questions about plumbing and from there he could get a few leads. But lets face it, that was good for a few jobs here and there, but not enough to sustain long term results.

When he first contacted JClicks Marketing, that was the extent of his online presence. We first off cleaned up his Google My Business page with fresh images and posts to attract more visitors and customers. Then we (using targeted geocentric language) provided detailed descriptions of his services.

Secondly to strengthen that listing, we took on the daunting task of listing his business in over 50 directory sites. This helps with building authority and moves his GMB listing up in search results.

Third we made a new Facebook Page where anybody could find him when they looked for plumbers in Port Coquitlam. With regular posts and some engagement from his followers, business started to come his way.

Next we built a new website for his company. B. Johnston Plumbing was now online and ready for new customers to find him organically. At first this new website was stuck in the "Google Sandbox" for a short while. Lets face it, new websites end up around page 8 of search results, especially since he does business in a very competitive area.

We soon started gaining better search results with advanced SEO practices.

First off we made sure the URL structure was at par or better then other companies in his service areas. Next we strive to make sure he has service area pages that are unique to the different cities he services. This way we can get better rankings faster with geo targeting each service area. Same with each individual service his company performs.

Having long and informative descriptions for each service page helps search engines understand exactly how his business helps solve a searcher's plumbing problems, and moves his website up the ranks quicker.

Short tail keywords like "Plumber + City" are very tough to rank for when you have a new website. So we had to make sure we dialed in on the Longtail keywords. For example "Sump Pump Repair in Port Coquitlam" is a much less competitive search term, and he ranks on page 1 for many search terms like this.

Getting top page results for the most competitive keyword searches are still in the works as we are currently (as of writing this article) ranking on page 2. At this time the website is only 1 and a 3/4 months old. We are right on schedule. In about 2 - 3 months we will get the tough search terms on page 1.

SEO is the long game.

So for now with winning the "longtail keywords" and some of the tough "short tail keyword searches" we are gaining new customers more and more every day.

The next part of the strategy is to gain new Backlinks for the home page and a few for the inner pages of his website. This is one of the biggest "off page" SEO tactics to move the needle.

The next thing we did was make his new Company Logo and got that laminated to the side of his truck. This not only helps his company have that polished professional look, but also serves as advertising wherever he goes.

Further down the line is going to be more aggressive advertising with using Google Ads and Facebook Ads.

Brad is looking forward to a profitable future as he gains more new customers every day and an increasingly stronger brand image.

The power of internet marketing is working in his favor and will continue to do so as he moves forward.

We are proud to be behind the scene as he works his way to the top!

Great work Brad and happy plumbing.
